At SPEAGES (Support Poverty Eradication and Alienation through African Girls’ Education Sponsorship), we believe that education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty. By providing secondary school sponsorships and leadership training to academically talented yet economically disadvantaged girls in Uganda, we are shaping the future—one girl at a time.
While primary education in Uganda is free, secondary education remains out of reach for many girls due to financial barriers. SPEAGES bridges this gap by sponsoring high-achieving students, particularly orphans and vulnerable children, so they can complete their secondary education and uplift their families and communities.
Each $990 USD (£780) annual sponsorship covers tuition, mentoring, and leadership training. Our three-year initiative is part of Uganda’s vision to become a middle-income country by 2040. Since our launch, we’ve grown from 750 to over 1,000 sponsored students, with a goal to reach 2,500 girls in the coming years.
Education is just the beginning. Through mentorship programs, leadership training, and annual networking conferences, our scholars gain the skills and confidence to become future leaders, role models, and change-makers in Uganda.

SPEAGES Uganda prioritizes education by funding school fees, books, and uniforms. Girls of basic school age are given preference to maximize long-term impact. Each girl's progress, including grades and attendance, is regularly evaluated to ensure continued support.
SPEAGES leverages technology to advocate for girls' rights, raise awareness of key issues, and empower young girls in underserved communities. Through hands-on computer science training, we equip girls with essential digital skills, preparing them to become the technologists of tomorrow. By introducing girls to technology at an early age, we open pathways for them to excel in STEM careers, bridging the gender gap in tech and engineering fields.
Empowering girls as future leaders starts with providing mentorship, advocacy, and opportunities to engage in meaningful conversations. SPEAGES connects young women with female professionals who share insights on their careers, personal journeys, and challenges. Through small group discussions, inspirational talks, and interactive sessions, girls gain the confidence and guidance to pursue leadership roles and impactful careers.
Many young women in developing countries struggle to transition from school to employment, leaving over a third unemployed or out of school. SPEAGES empowers adolescent girls with leadership and vocational skills—such as batik, tie & dye, soap making, and beadwork—equipping them for economic independence. By investing in mentorship during adolescence, we help girls develop the confidence, skills, and opportunities needed to become future leaders and change-makers.
SPEAGES advocates for stronger protections against child marriage, ensuring girls can choose their future. Forced early marriage violates human rights and hinders community progress. When girls are safe, educated, and empowered, they become catalysts for healthier families, stronger economies, and lasting change.
